Pozdrav svima. Moje ime je Valentina, iz Kolumbije sam i trenutno imam sreću biti volonterka u organizaciji IKS-a u Petrinji, Hrvatska.
Ali zašto bogatstvo? Pa, reći ću vam…
Moji roditelji (Freider i Carolina) bili su temeljna osovina u mom životu. Tijekom svojih 21 godina vidila sam kako brinu o ljudima naše male zajednice i problemima koje mogu imati. Oni su oduvijek doprinosili da svijet bude malo bolji. Tako sam učila od njih i tijekom godina sam shvatila da je ono što me stvarno čini sretnim ono što su moji roditelji uvijek radili i učili: da doprinesem da svijet bude malo bolji.
U potrazi za postizanjem tog cilja u životu, počela sam studirati političke znanosti gdje je jedna od najvrednijih stvari koje sam naučio da su svi problemi i konteksti različiti i da biste ih stvarno poznavali i mogli doprinijeti, morate blisko surađivati s ljudima koji svakodnevno žive u tim kontekstima i uče od njih.
Volontiram u organizaciji nekoliko dana, ali u ovo kratko vrijeme IKS mi je omogućio da kroz različite ljude koji su me naučili i iznenadili svojim vještinama upoznam mnoge stvarnosti. Osim toga, omogućilo mi je da doprinesem zajednici donoseći osmijehe, igre, pa čak i tipičnu hranu iz moje zemlje.
Volontiranje u IKS-u je prekrasno iskustvo. Osjećam da svaki dan s IKS-om postižem ono što su me roditelji naučili, to me veseli i postao mi je cilj u životu: doprinijeti da svijet bude malo bolji. Zato je biti ovdje veliko bogatstvo. Bit će to 5 prekrasnih mjeseci!

Hola a todos. Mi nombre es Valentina, soy de Colombia y actualmente tengo la fortuna de ser voluntaria en la Organización IKS en Petrinja, Croacia.
Pero ¿Por qué la fortuna? Pues bien, les contaré …
Mis padres (Freider y Carolina) han sido el eje fundamental en mi vida. Durante mis 21 años de edad los he visto preocuparse por las personas de nuestra pequeña comunidad y los problemas que puedan tener. Siempre han contribuido a que el mundo sea un poco mejor. Así que aprendí de ellos y al pasar de los años me di cuenta de que lo que me hace realmente feliz es eso que siempre han hecho y me han enseñado mis padres: contribuir a que el mundo sea un poco mejor.
En mi búsqueda por alcanzar esa meta de vida, empecé a estudiar ciencia política en donde, una de las cosas más valiosas que aprendí es que todas las problemáticas y contextos son diferentes y para conocerlos de verdad y poder contribuir, hay que trabajar de cerca con las personas que viven diariamente en estos contextos y aprender de ellas.
Llevo pocos días de voluntariado con la organización, pero en este corto tiempo IKS me ha permitido conocer muchas realidades a través de diferentes personas que me han enseñado y dejado sorprendida con sus habilidades. Además, me ha permitido contribuir a la comunidad llevando sonrisas, juegos e incluso comida típica de mi país.
El voluntariado en IKS ha sido una experiencia maravillosa. Siento que cada día con IKS estoy alcanzado eso que me enseñaron mis padres, me hace feliz y se convirtió en mi meta de vida: contribuir a que el mundo sea un poco mejor. Por eso estar aquí es una gran afortuna. ¡Serán 5 meses maravillosos!

Hello everyone. My name is Valentina, I am from Colombia and I am currently fortunate to be a volunteer at the IKS Organization in Petrinja, Croatia.
But why fortune? Well, I’ll tell you…
My parents (Freider and Carolina) have been the fundamental axis in my life. During my 21 years of age I have seen them care about the people of our small community and the problems they may have. They have always contributed to making the world a little better. So I learned from them and over the years I realized that what makes me really happy is what my parents have always done and taught me: to contribute to making the world a little better.
In my quest to achieve that goal in life, I began to study political science where, one of the most valuable things I learned is that all problems and contexts are different and to really know them and be able to contribute, you have to work closely with people who live daily in these contexts and learn from them.
I have been volunteering with the organization for a few days, but in this short time IKS has allowed me to get to know many realities through different people who have taught me and surprised me with their skills. In addition, it has allowed me to contribute to the community by bringing smiles, games and even typical food from my country.
Volunteering at IKS has been a wonderful experience. I feel that every day with IKS I am achieving what my parents taught me, it makes me happy and it has become my goal in life: to contribute to making the world a little better. That’s why being here is a great fortune. It will be 5 wonderful months!
