As the first three months have already passed, and now we are on halfway of our European Voluntary Service (EVS), we were invited to participate in our mid-term training in Split with other 14 international volunteers who are all doing the EVS in Croatia.
First of all, Split is awesome! 🙂 You can find everything in one city, all the sandy beaches, the beautiful old town and busy night life with lots of café bars and parties. Fortunately, we had one free afternoon to explore the city.
To start with, everybody introduced his or her EVS life, and talked about how the project activities have been done so far. After that, we made a timeline about our EVS with all the achievements and our biggest challenges. This training could have been a good opportunity to discuss and solve all the problems if the trainers had been more motivated and enthusiastic. Unfortunately, we did not get clear solutions or instructions for solving conflicts. We also had the chance to meet one of the representatives of the “Agencija za Mobilnost i Programe EU” who tried to answer our requests somehow.
In the other part of the training we learnt how to fulfill our Youth Pass document. We talked about how we acquire our knowledge, skill and competence in order to realize and profit from our learning process during the EVS. As we develop our learning plan during the EVS, we can create our own personal projects where we can acquire more competences.
Since EVS is considered as a service for the local community, we reviewed our impact on the community, especially on the youth.
Last day of the training, we imagined what will happen when we finish the service and travel home. However it was difficult to figure out what we are going to do after EVS, it was useful to think about our future…
