Put u Bosnu i Hercegovinu

Melita, zaposlenica IKS-a je 1. kolovoza odlučila mene i volontere povesti na izlet u Bosnu.

On August 1st, Melita IKS employee decided to take me and the volunteers to Bosnia. The day looked complicated as the truck that was supposed to drive us there did not want to start. Melita had to call Tamara (the boss) to the rescue who managed to restart the truck. We finally took off around 11am, and Melita stopped us in the town of Hrvatska Kostajnica to show us a superb view of the city and a monument designed in honor of a journalist shot at this place.

After receiving a stamp in our passporta we each took a picture in front of the Bosnian flag before taking a short tour in the border city Kostajnica. We went around the market and ate in a small restaurant nearby where I had the opportunity to taste the famous “ćevapi”.

After that we returned to the truck to take the direction of another destination where we can swim. On the way we stopped at a spring of drinking water to refresh ourselves and that’s when the truck decided once again to let go of us. Luckily, and thanks to the generous help of passerbys we managed to return to Petrinja but unfortunately we were not able to swim in Una.

Fortunately, it was a funny experience to live through wtih other volunteers and it’s a fun story to tell my family when I get home.
