Moje iskustvo s Montessori metodom

In the few last months, I have had the opportunity to attend a course Introduction to Montessori, which was organized by Montessori Centre International. First, I must admit that it was my very first experience with the Montessori philosophy and I was a little bit worried about how difficult the course will be. But after a couple of lessons, I found out, that the Montessori approach is all around me and that I encounter it in my everyday life. What I appreciated the most, was the composition of lessons. Each of the lessons was interesting, interactive and user-friendly, so going through the individual modules was pure joy. The core principle of the approach is “We must meet the needs of the child” and it sums up best what the whole philosophy is all about. And even though a lot of Montessori ideas sound logical and simple, I had to ask myself if we, adults, really follow them. Because giving children a certain degree of freedom, letting them act spontaneous and take a step back and just observe them quietly, that’s something challenging for us. At least for me, it is something new and I need to incorporate it into my work. Before the course, I also lived a bit in the mistaken belief, that Montessori schools are something “alternative” or “anti-system”. Instead, now I believe, that at least part of the Montessori principle should be adopted by every educational institution in the world. I would strongly recommend an Introduction to Montessori to everyone who works with children or raises them. And it is not just about schools, it gives the new view of the children’s world to everyone.
